This quilt  was begun at an Anne Kelly workshop some time ago and I completed it for this swap.  It is made with fabric, paper, print and machine stitch.

Quilt no 16: Shape Up

This quilt  is done in gold dupioni silk with Kaffe fabric inserts.  It  is machine quilted to outline the blocks and hand stitched with perle cotton.  Embellishments include glass beads, copper wire and Angelina fibers.

This piece is machine quilted, paper pieced and raw edge appliqued in quilting cottons.  Embellishments include three buttons for the berries.

100 per cent cotton; quilted in the ditch. Please note that the fabric which appears grey in the photo is entirely grey, no brown shades.

Quilt no 13: Summer Days
10.5" square
This quilt is inspired by the Falling Leaves quilt block by Kim Niedzwiecki which I found in Modern Quilting magazine.  I followed her pattern and used some Kaffe Fassett fabrics I bought last year, and some Kona solid white.  The grey on the back I have had for a while. Not sure where I got it. The quilt  is machine pieced and machine quilted.

Quilt no 12


Quilt no 12: Chicken House
12.5" square
This is a traditional quilt with a quilting cottons, batiks and cotton/polyester-mix front, polyester batting and cotton back.  The quilting is stitch in the ditch.

This quilt was inspired by Paul Klee's flower bed painting. It has a hanging sleeve attached,

I was inspired by the "Chicago School of Fusing" and the works of Laura Heine, especially Painted Lady and Garden Party.  I used raw-edge fused applique. Some pieces are stitched with a straight stitch and  some are outlined with various decorative stitches from my old Bernina 830. Embellishments include Czech pressed glass beads, Czech faceted fire polished beads, Indian hand wound seed beeds and Japanese color lined traingle seed beads.

This quilt emerged from a doodle on a yellow post note.  It is machine and hand appliqued. The elements are from my Batik stash, and the backing is Story Book by Kate and Birdie Paper Co. for Moda. There are some iron-on crystals on the umbrellas.

The background fabric is old kimono silk, the green silk batik I bought in India many years ago, the yellow silk once was a favourite blouse and the back is a piece from my sister's skirt. (She gave it to me!!) I added some shisa mirrors and pearls.

This is hand and machine pieced, machine quilted, and made with cotton fabrics.

The quilt features raw edge applique, inking, thread painting, and hand stitching.  The background plaid is an up -cycled Indian madras cotton.

Thi is traditional piecing and machine quilted on a straight-line grid. Made from cut off ends and scraps from a larger quilt and other scraps from my stash.

Quilt no 1: Christo's Gates in Spring

This is inspired by the work of Christo in Central Park New York. Fabrics used are my own hand-dyed ones, the orange squares are samples from a dyeing group. Technique used is free motion quilting and applique. Additional seed beads are added to the leaves.
